Conceiving naturally at 41 wasn’t easy, especially after a miscarriage. But with the right mindset, support, supplements, and lifestyle changes, I was able to boost my fertility and get my rainbow baby.
Here’s exactly what I did:
1. Focused on Egg Quality
A nurse at a fertility clinic once told me that regardless of age, egg quality is everything.
I committed to an egg health plan using:
✔ CoQ10 (Ubiquinol) – Boosts mitochondrial function in eggs
✔ PQQ – Works with CoQ10 to enhance mitochondrial function
✔ Acai Berry – Antioxidant powerhouse for egg protection
✔ Myo-Inositol – Helps with egg maturation & insulin balance
✔ Melatonin (Low Dose) – Supports egg & embryo quality
2. Followed a Fertility Diet
I switched to a high-antioxidant, anti-inflammatory diet with:
✔ Lots of colorful vegetables & leafy greens
✔ Healthy fats (avocados, nuts, seeds, olive oil)
✔ High-quality protein (lean meat, poultry, fish, legumes, and dairy with at least 2% fat)
✔ No processed or added sugar (to reduce inflammation)
✔ Bone broth & collagen for uterine lining support
(Your doctor can order blood tests to see if any particular foods, like dairy, cause inflammation for you and should be avoided.)
3. Took Key Supplements
✔ Omega-3 (DHA/EPA) – Supports hormone balance
✔ Vitamin D3 + K2 – Essential for implantation
✔ Prenatal Vitamin(with methylfolate) – Essential nutrients for conception & pregnancy
✔ NAC & Alpha-Lipoic Acid – Protects eggs from oxidative stress
(I also took low doses of Aspirin and Metformin as prescribed by my doctor; here are posts discussing these further: How Low Dose Aspirin Can Help Fertility and Metformin & Fertility)
4. Reduced Stress & Prioritized Sleep
✔ Practiced meditation & deep breathing
✔ Got 8+ hours of quality sleep – Melatonin REALLY helped with my insomnia!
✔ Limited blue light at night (no screens before bed)
✔ Took Epsom salt baths for relaxation
5. Optimized Blood Flow & Hormones
✔ Daily walking & light strength training
✔ Yoga & acupuncture to improve circulation
✔ Tracked ovulation with LH strips & BBT charting
6. Supported Implantation
✔ Focused on a healthy luteal phase with Vitamin C & B6
✔ Consumed seeds (pumpkin and sunflower) to support progesterone
7. Protected Mental Health
✔ Only discussed the journey with supportive family members
✔ Worked with only compassionate & innovative medical professionals
✔ Stayed hopeful based on numerous success stories & trusted my body
